Rosa Jenny "Rose" Serbus was born on 21 May 1890, in Henryville Township, Renville County, Minnesota, to John William and Mary Ann (Kojetin) Serbus. On 07 April 1910, she married Michael Jacob "Mike" Goblish in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bechyn, Renville County, Minnesota. Rose and Michael farmed near Bechyn, in Henryville Township, Renville County, Minnesota, until 1948, when they moved into Olivia, Minnesota. Rose’s husband, Michael Jacob Goblish, died on 03 June 1953. Rose and Mike had seven children, three sons, Leo Michael, John Edward "Eddy," and Henry Joseph "Hank"; and, four daughters, Margaret (Sister Philothea), Irene Mary (Houdek), Marie Angela (Wertish), and Rose (Kohout). Rosa Jenny "Rose" (Serbus) Goblish died, at the age of 80, on Wednesday, 14 April 1971, in the Olivia Nursing Home in Olivia, Renville County, Minnesota. Rose was survived by sons, John Edward and Henry Joseph Goblish; daughters, Sister Margaret Goblish of Fargo, Irene Mary (Stanley) Houdek, Marie Angela (Edward) Wertish, and Rose Jenny (William) Kohout; brothers, James, William, Matthew, and John Serbus; sister, Anna Frank; 38 grandchildren, and 36 great-grandchildren. Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Jacob; her son, Leo Michael, and three sisters, Mary Hosek, Blanche Serbus, and Gertrude Bartes. The funeral service for Rose was held at 9:30 a.m., on Saturday, 17 April 1971, in St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Olivia; Father Frank Hayden officiated. Burial was in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Bechyn, Renville County, Minnesota. Pallbearers were Gary Goblirsch, John Goblish, Harold Goblish, Joseph Wertish, Michael Kohout, and Edward Houdek.
