Bio

Rose Jennie Kohout was born on 12 March 1926, to Michael Jacob and Rosa Jenny (Serbus) Goblish, in Henryville Township, Renville County, Minnesota. On 27 January 1948, Rose married William Theodore "Bill" Kohout, the son of Michael K. and Anna (Svoboda) Kohout. After their marriage, the couple lived near Bechyn where Rose worked on the farm with her husband and raised their 11 children. In 1993, they retired to Redwood Falls. When they lived on the farm, Rose and Bill attended St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bechyn, where Rose was a religious education teacher and member and past president of the CCW, and she and Bill served as co-chairpersons for the summer church festival. After they moved to Redwood Falls, Rose was a member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church. At St. Catherine's, she was a CCW member, religious education teacher, and member of the St. Theresa Mission. Rose enjoyed leading the rosary before mass and was a lay minister for communion. Rose enjoyed fishing with her sons, shopping with her daughters, tending her large flower and vegetable garden, and spending time with her family. She lived a life in service of others; she came to serve, not to be served. Rose set a "grace-filled" example for all to emulate. Rose and Bill had seven daughters, Judy (Rien), Karen (Piekarski), Shirley Kohout, Marsha (Fluck), Renee (Cash), Joan (Ryan), and Laurie (Scherer); and, four sons, Eugene, Michael, John, and Larry Kohout. Of these 11 children, the twins are Michael and Marsha, John and Joan, and Laurie and Larry. Rose Jennie (Goblish) Kohout died on Sunday, 18 August 2013, at Seasons in Redwood Falls, Redwood County, Minnesota. She was 87 years old. Her husband, William Theodore Kohout "Bill," passed away on 19 January 2003. Rose was buried next to her husband in Saint Catherine's Catholic Cemetery, North Redwood, Redwood County, Minnesota.
