Bio

Blanche (Blanka) Serbus was born on 31 January 1906, in Henryville Township, Renville County, Minnesota, to John William and Mary Kojetin Serbus. When Blanche was just six years old, she was taken ill with blood poisoning, which had resulted from an injury to one of her limbs. After undergoing three operations, it was hopeful that Blanche would recover. Sadly, after a few days, her health diminished and all hope vanished. The blood poisoning was gotten too close to her heart resulting in her death. Six year old, Blanche (Blanka) Serbus died on Wednesday, 28 September 1910, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota, where she had been taken ten days earlier. Blanche’s remains were transported to Olivia, Minnesota, on Wednesday night, by her parents and her uncle, Anton Serbus, who had assisted her during her illness. Blanche’s funeral was held on Saturday, 01 October 1906, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bechyn; Reverend Father Tommek of Redwood Falls officiated. Blanche was laid to rest in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Bechyn, Renville County, Minnesota.
