Bio
Michael Jacob "Mike" Goblish was born on 27 May 1884, to Michael and Katherina "Katherine" Weis Goblirsch, in Henryville Township, Renville County, Minnesota. (Note the difference in the spelling of the surnames. Michael Jacob changed the spelling and his children, except his oldest son, Leo, chose to use the "shortened" version of the name. Leo and his family continue to use the original spelling of the surname.) Michael Jacob Goblish married Rosa Jenny "Rose" Serbus on 07 April 1910, in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bechyn, Minnesota. Michael and Rose farmed in Henryville Township, near Bechyn, until 1948, when they moved to Olivia, Minnesota. Michael and Rosa had seven children; three sons, Leo, John and Henry; and, four daughters, Margaret (Sister Philothea), Irene (Houdek), Marie (Wertish) and Rose (Kohout). Michael died on 03 June 1953, at the age of 69, after a two-week illness in the Renville County Hospital in Olivia. His funeral service was held in St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Olivia, with burial in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Bechyn. Father Stanley Skluzacek officiated at Mike's funeral service. Pallbearers were Arthur Hopman, Joseph Goblirsch, William Goblish, Valerian Frank, William Serbus, and John Serbus.
