Bio

William Henry “Bill” Serbus was born on 05 June 1897 in Henryville Township, Renville County, Minnesota, to John William and Mary Ann Kubesh Serbus. William grew up in Henryville Township and attended school in Renville County. William Henry married Barbara Anna Korbel, the daughter of John and Anna Kriz Korbel, on 06 February 1923, in Oregon. After their marriage, they farmed near Bechyn, and raised three children, Helen, Rosealia “Rose” and William, Jr. William Henry ”Bill” Serbus, Sr. died at the age of 90 on Monday, 07 December 1987, at the Olivia Health Care Center, in Olivia, Renville County, Minnesota. He was survived by one daughter, Rose (Adrian) Aschenbrenner of Seattle, Washington; one son, William, Jr. of Olivia; one brother, Matthew of Olivia; 12 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; one daughter, Helen; his parents; two brothers; and four sisters. Visitation for William was held from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, 09 December, with an 8:00 p.m. prayer service, at the Dirks Funeral Home in Olivia. The funeral service for William was held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, 10 December 1987, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Olivia. Burial followed in St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery in Olivia, Renville County, Minnesota. Pallbearers were Lloyd Serbus, Jim Serbus, Wallace Serbus, Francis Serbus, Henry Goblish, and John M. Serbus.
