Bio
Margaret Rose Goblish was born on 24 June 1911, in Henryville Township, Renville County, Minnesota, to Michael Jacob “Mike” and Rosa Jenny “Rose” Serbus Goblirsch. Margaret was raised in Henryville Township and went to the Renville County public schools. Margaret was a Sister of St. Joseph of Carondelet. She taught school for many years and was known as “Sister Philothea.” Later, she took her own name and went by “Sister Margaret.” Sister Margaret Rose Goblish, CSJ, died at the age of 89 from complications from surgery, on Tuesday, 13 March 2001, at the University-Fairview Hospital, in St. Paul, Ramsey County, Minnesota. Sister Margaret was survived by her sisters, Irene Houdek and Marie Wertish of Olivia, and Rose Kohout of Redwood Falls; brothers, John of Olivia and Henry of Danube; many nieces and nephews; and, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Leo Michael Goblirsch. Mass of Resurrection was held for Sister Margaret at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, 16 March 2001, at the Bethany Convent Chapel, 1870 Randolph Avenue, St. Paul, Minnesota. Reviewal was at the chapel for one hour prior to the funeral service. Sister Margaret Rose Goblish was buried in the Resurrection Cemetery in Shorewood, Hennepin County, Minnesota. It was requested that memorials be sent to the Sisters of St. Joseph Ministries Foundation.
