Bio
Anna Gertrude Serbus was born on 28 February 1892, in Henryville Township, Renville County, Minnesota, to John William and Mary Ann Kojetin Serbus. Anna married Michael William “Mike” Frank, the son of Jacob II and Mary Dvorak Frank, on 19 April 1910, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bechyn. After their marriage, Anna and Mike made their home on a farm eight miles south of Olivia. Sadly, Mike died on 09 December 1932 in Redwood County, Minnesota. Anna continued to live on the farm until 1947, when she moved to Olivia. Anna Gertrude Serbus Frank died at the age of 86 on Thursday, 13 April 1978, at the Renville County Hospital in Olivia, Renville County, Minnesota. Anna was survived by six of her children, Rose Anne (Joseph) Goblirsch of Wabasso; Valerian Joseph (Elsie) Frank of North Redwood; David William (Margaret) Frank of Olivia; Marie Eleanor (Warren) Bogema of Minneapolis; Martha Dorothy (Cecil) Carnes, and Helen Georgianna (Donald) Ridl, both of Renville; 33 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; four brothers, John E. Serbus, Sr., of Renville and James, William, and Matthew Serbus of Olivia. Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Michael William Frank, in 1932, and two sons, Emil Donald and George Frank. The funeral service for Anna was held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, 17 April 1978, at the St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Olivia, Minnesota; Father Ralph Hayden officiated. Burial followed in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Bechyn, Renville County, Minnesota. Pallbearers were Bernard Goblirsch, Larry Ridl, Robert Goblirsch, Gerald Frank, Gary Carnes, and Donald Bogema.
