Bio
Marie Angela Wertish was born on 07 March 1920 in Henryville Township, Renville County, Minnesota, to Michael and Rose (Serbus) Goblish. She attended Henryville Township School District #12. Marie married Edward Stephen "Ed" Wertish on 13 September 1938 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bechyn. They were blessed with two sons and four daughters. Marie and Ed farmed near Bechyn and south of Danube. They retired from farming and moved to Olivia in 1988. After Marie's husband, Edward Stephen Wertish, died on 02 January 2003, Marie continued to make her own home before moving into the Golden Living Center in Olivia in 2010. Since October 2012 she resided at RenVilla Nursing Home in Renville. Marie was a faithful member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church and the CCW. When they lived near Bechyn, she was very active at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Marie enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, canning, sewing, making quilts for missions, cooking, and baking; especially, making kolaches. Marie cherished spending time with her family and playing cards with her children and grandchildren. Marie Angela Goblish Wertish died at the age of 93, on Saturday, 28 September 2013, at the RenVilla Nursing Home in Renville, Renville County, Minnesota. Marie was survived by five of her children, Dorothy Borth of Fairfax, Edward H. (Theresa) Wertish of Redwood Falls, Rose Anne (John) Lee of Sacred Heart, Linda (Gary) Sorensen of Gillette, Wyoming, and Mary Enestvedt of Sacred Heart; daughter-in-law, Donna Wertish of Victoria; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Marie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward; son, Joseph; son-in-law, Daniel Borth; and, siblings, Sister Margaret Goblish, Leo Goblirsch, John Goblish, Irene Houdek, Henry Goblish, and Rose Kohout. Visitation for Marie was on Wednesday, 02 October 2013, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Olivia, with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. Visitation continued on Thursday at the funeral home from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial was held for Marie Angela on Thursday, 03 October, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Olivia. Marie was buried next to her husband in St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery in Olivia, Renville County, Minnesota.
