Bio
Gertrude M. Serbus was born on 03 March 1908, in Henryville Township, Renville County, Minnesota, to John William and Mary Ann (Kojetin) Serbus. On 17 April 1928, she married Francis “Frank” Bartes in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bechyn, Renville County, Minnesota. Gertrude M. Serbus Bartes died at home in her sleep, at the age of 61, on Thursday, 19 August 1969, in Kingman Township, Renville County, Minnesota. Gertrude was survived by her husband, Frank; two daughters, Margaret Riggeo of California and Sylvia Bartes of Georgia; brothers, James Joseph, William Henry, John Edward, and Matthew William Serbus; and, sisters, Rosa Jenny (Michael) Goblish and Anna (Michael) Frank, all from the Olivia area. The funeral service for Gertrude M. Serbus Bartes was held in St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Burial followed in St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery in Olivia, Renville County, Minnesota.
