Bio

Joseph Anton Goblirsch was born on 14 September 1874, to Michael and Katherina "Katherine" Weis Goblirsch, in Renville County, Minnesota. Joseph later changed the spelling of his name to "Goblish." It should be noted that on the 12 September 1916, U.S. WWI Draft registration form, Joseph's name appeared (on the same form) as "Goblirsch" and "Goblish." He married Mary Ann Frank, the daughter of Jacob and Mary Dvorak (Dworshak) Frank, on 5 January 1901, in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bechyn, Minnesota. After their marriage, Joseph and Mary Ann farmed near Vesta and raised their five children: sons, William Vincent and George John, and daughters, Lillian Rose, Evangeline Alice "Evelyn," and Emily Lucille Goblirsch. Joseph Anton Goblish died, as the result of a stroke that he suffered, at the age of 52, on 4 June 1947, in Vesta, Redwood County, Minnesota. His funeral service was held in the Holy Name Catholic Church and he was buried in the Holy Name Catholic Church Cemetery in Vesta, Redwood County, Minnesota.
