Katharina "Katherine" Weis was born of German descent, on 18 July 1848, in Bohemia, Czechoslovakia. In 1868, at the age of 20, Katharina and her brother, Wolfgang Weis, immigrated to America. On 31 December 1870, Katherina and Michael Goblirsch applied for their marriage license in Brown County, Minnesota. They were married on 04 January 1871 at New Ulm, Brown County, by Roman Catholic Priest, Alexander Bergholz. Katherina had lived in Cottonwood, Brown County, for two years prior to her marriage. The same year of their marriage, Katharina and Michael moved to Renville County, Minnesota, where they were two of the earliest settlers in Henryville Township. Michael built Katharina a sod shanty for her first home on their homestead near Bechyn. Katharina and Michael had four sons, Joseph, John, Michael, and Francis; and, six daughters, Mary (Singer), Katrina (Norris), Barbara (Martin), Margaret (Arnold), Anna (Hopman), and Bertha (Wacek). Katharina died at her home in Henryville Township, on Thursday, 27 February 1908. Her funeral was held on Saturday, 01 March 1908, in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bechyn, Renville County, Minnesota. Burial followed in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Katharina was one of the first pioneers of the Bechyn Community and was well known in the Villages of Beaver Falls and Birch Cooley. These neighborhoods, almost en masse, paid their respects to Katharina by attending her funeral.
