Bio

Helen Georgianna Frank was born, on 27 September 1918, in Olivia, Renville County, Minnesota, to Michael and Anna Serbus Frank. She attended country school in Henryville Township and graduated from Olivia High School. On 2 May 1938, Helen married Donald E. Ridl, the son of Patrick Henry and Mary Johanna Kubesh Ridl, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bechyn. Helen and Donald had two daughters and six sons. Helen was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and the Council of Catholic Women. Helen Georgianna Frank Ridl, of Renville, died on Friday, 10 December 1999, at the Renville County Hospital in Olivia, Renville County, Minnesota. She was survived by her two daughters, Mary (Dave) Kemnitz of Walnut Creek, California, and Theresa (Dick) Ryg of North Mankato; six sons, Larry (Caroline) of Rossville, Illinois, Ken (Donna) of Spicer, and Donald, Jr., (Lois), Robert, Chuck (Linda), and Jerry (Kathy), all of Renville; 20 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sister, Martha Carnes of Renville; and brothers, David (Margaret) Frank, and Valerian Frank, both of Olivia. She was preceded in death by her husband; infant son, Joseph; and two grandsons. Visitation was from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., on Monday, 13 December, at the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Renville, with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 p.m., and for one hour prior to the funeral service on Tuesday The funeral was held on Tuesday, 14 December 1999, at 11:00 a.m., at the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Renville. Monsignor Arthur S. Thomas officiated. Helen was buried next to her husband, Donald E., in the Holy Redeemer Catholic Cemetery, near Renville, in Renville County, Minnesota.
