Texas Coaster, March 12, 1952: Thomas F. Nawara, 58, of the Pleak community, passed away very unexpectedly Tuesday, March 11, at the Polly Ryon Hospital. He was born in Austin County March 5, 1894, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Nawara Sr. He had been a resident of Fort Bend County 52 years. Mr. Nawara was a member of the Evangelical Reformed Church of Needville and American Legion Post No. 350 of Needville. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mattie Nawara; two daughters, Mrs. Lona Mae Nordt of Memphis, Tenn. and Mrs. Elenora Starnes of Houston; two sisters, Mrs. Annie Kreitz of Needville and Mrs. Mattie Revia of Kingsville; six brothers, Frank and Henry of Rosenberg, Louis, John, Edward, and Gus Nawara of Needville; and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be held from the Evangelical Church in Needville this afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, with burial in the Public Cemetery near Needville, with Rev. W.E. Scholze officiating. The American Legion Post will conduct military services at the grave. Pallbearers will be Matt Mensik, Frank Barta, Robert Rosenbaum, Henry Herring, Albert Bertran, and Julius Warncke. Garmany-Heartfield will direct.
