Herald Coaster, May 11, 1998: Funeral services for Elenora D. Starnes Record, 71, of Needville, were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 11, at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg. Interment followed at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg. Rev. Brent Burckart officiated the services. Mrs. Record was born on Nov. 29, 1926 in Needville to Thomas Fred Nawara and Mattie I. NIchter Nawara, and she passed away on May 8, 1998 at Methodist Hospital in Houston. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Mattie Nawara and a brother, Calvin Nawara. She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Bob Record of Needville; a daughter, Karen Carter and her husband, Army Major Bob Carter of Tampa, FL; sons, Robert Starnes and his wife, Robin, of Austin, and WIlliam Starnes and his wife, Nancy, of Austin; a sister, Lona Mae Nordt and her husband, Ray, of Needville; grandchildren, Lisa Carter of Tampa, FL, John Austin Carter of Tampa, FL, John David Starnes of Austin, Erin Starnes of Austin, and Kelley Starnes of Austin. The family requests that for those wishing, memorial contributions be made to M.D. Anderson's Children's Cancer Hospital, Houston, TX, or St. Jude's Children's Cancer Research Hospital, Memphis, TN. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg. (281) 341-8800.
