Aunt Jane's tombstone states she was born in 1843, but the actual year is 1845 as her birthdate is recorded in her parents' Bible.

Bio

Rebecca Jane Smith married Lenard Ferguson Coker on Dec. 5, 1866, in Polk County, Texas. Mrs. Jane Coker, one of the oldest and best known women of Hopkins county, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. W. Patterson, near Cumby, after a short illness. She is the mother of eight children, seven living and one dead. Her seven children and two of her sisters were at her bedside at time of death. She has four sisters, forty-four grandchildren and thirty-three great-grandchildren. Her sisters are as follows: Mrs. Dolly Ditmore, Bettie Canon, Pinkie Barnett, Missie Griffin. Her children are: Mrs. Linnie Parker, Mrs. Mollie Bunch, Bud Coker, Mrs. J. W. Patterson, Henry Coker, Jimmie Coker, Mrs. Burse Carroll. She was laid to rest in the Emblem cemetery, Thursday, Oct. 27. Funeral services were conducted by Bro. Young of Campbell.
