Joe Bezdek, Age 87, Dies Joe F. Bezdek, 78, of West died Thursday morning Jan. 8 in a Temple hospital. Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Kotch Funeral Home Chapel in West. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday Jan. 10 in St. Mary's Catholic Church in West with Rev. George Doskocil as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery. Mr. Bezdek was born in Abbott and had lived in the West area most of his life. He was a retired farmer and Army veteran of World War I. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and American Legion Post of West. His wife, Mrs. Mary Bezdek, died in 1956. Survivors include three sons, Jerry Bezdek of Abbott, Joe H. Bezdek of Kennedale and Danny Bezdek of Arlington; five daughters, Mrs. Mary Dudik of Elm Mott, Mrs. Edward (Josephine) Makovy of Mount Calm, Mrs. Evelyn Hanak of Arlington, Mrs. Will (Irene) James of Riesel and Mrs. John (Dorothy) Dyer of Altus, Okla.; three brothers, Louis Bezdek, Sr. of West, Willie Bezdek of Baton Rouge, La., and Henry Bezdek of Corpus Christi; five sisters, Mrs. John (Mary) Zatopek and Mrs. Ernest (Annie Mae) Snapka, both of Abbott, Mrs. Roman (Sophie) Snapka and Mrs. Eddie (Christine) Knapek, both of Corpus Christi, and Mrs. A. C. (Agnes) Soukup of West; 25 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Kotch Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
