Vackav Bezdek, 78, Dies, Rites Set For Friday Vaclav (Jim) Bezdek, 78, of 519 South Harrison in West died Wednesday morning in a Temple hospital. Rosary was recited at 8 p.m. Thursday at the Kotch Funeral Home Chapel in West. Requiem mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, Rev. George Doskocil as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Mr. Bezdek was born in West and had lived in the West area all of his life. He was a retired merchant and farmer, and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 2305, KJT Society No. 31, KC Society, SPJST Lodge No. 54, VFW Post No. 4819 and American Legion Post of West. He was a veteran of World War I. Survivors includ3e his wife, Mrs. Annie Bezdek of West; a daughter, Mrs. Louis (Frances) Jaska of Ross; three sons, Eddie Bezdek of Ross, Jim Bezdek of Denton and Raymond Bezdek of Houston; 4 brothers, Louis Bezdek and Joe Bezdek, both of West, Willie Bezdek of Baton Rouge, La., and Henry Bezdek of Corpus Christi; five sisters, Mrs. John (Mary) Zatopek of Abbott, Mrs. A.C. (Agnes) Soukup of West, Mrs. Eddie (Christine) Knapek and Mrs. Roman (Sophie) Snapka, both of Corpus Christi, and Mrs. Ernest (Annie Mae) Snapka of Abbott; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
