Bio

Sophie Bezdek Snapka, a charter member of St. Theresa Parish, a member of the KJZT, the St. Theresa Altar Society and the Corpus Christi Circle of Women, passed away April 17, 2000 in a local hospital at the age of 90. Born the eighth of twelve children to Joseph and Marie Sulak Bezdek in West, Texas, Sophie moved to Corpus Christi with her husband, Roman in 1940. She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, five sisters and her husband, Roman in 1992. She is survived by her sons and daughters, R.J. "Jake" (June)Snapka of Taft, Larry (Carolyn) Snapka, Alfred (Lucille) Snapka and Sister Martha Ann Snapka of Corpus Christi, Mary Beth (Frank)Schonhoeft of Robstown, nine grandchildren: Teri Mutchler, Randy, Sheila, Marsha, Brian, Steven and Ben Snapka, Robert Schonhoeft and Judy Villalon, six great-grandchildren: Jenna and Alyssa Mutchler, Christina and Ryan Villalon and Christian and Mitchell Jake Schonhoeft, a brother in law and sister in law, Method and Maxine Snapka of Corpus Christi, sisters in law, Adele Bezdek of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Anita Bezdek of Corpus Christi and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The Vigil Service will be held Tuesday, April 18, 2000 at 7:00 PM at the Maxwell P. Dunne Funeral Home. The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 19, 2000 at 9:30 AM (Note Change of Time) at St. Theresa Church. Burial will follow at Seaside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Roman and Sophie Bezdek Snapka Scholarship Fund at Incarnate Word Academy. The Corpus Christi Caller - online - April 18, 2000
