Louis J. Bezdek, Sr., 90, a World War I veteran from West, died Saturday morning, February 20, 1988 at a Temple hospital. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at Kotch Funeral Home Chapel in West. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in West, with Msgr. Ray Widacki as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery in West. Mr. Bezdek was born near West and had lived in the West area most of his life. He was a veteran of World War I, serving in the U.S. Army, and was a service officer for the American Legion for a number of years. He was a member of the Boyd-Sykora-Karlik American Legion Post No. 478. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4819 and a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Pallbearers were James Debbendener, Adolph Volcik, Edwin Volcik, Edward Plsek, Henry Gaiser and Robert Stanislav. Honorary pallbearers were: members of American Legion Post No. 478; members of V.F.W.
