SD - Sturgis Tribune 04 Jan 1945 (pg 1) JOHN LOUIS SIMONS: Sturgis; 75, old pioneer died December 31. John Simons was born 1 August 1869 in Lancaster WI. He came to the Black Hills in 1885. He married Minnie Walker in 1891, she died in 1898. In 1902 he married Laura Hicks. He leaves to mourn his death, his wife and several children: Mrs. Alice Murphy, Rapid City; Mrs. Beatrice Juhnke, Rapid City; and Mrs. Wealtha Sylvis, Sturgis; Thomas, Plainview; and Howard, Port Orchard; 2 brothers: Grant Simons, White Owl and Garfield Simons, Enning; and several sisters: Mrs. Angie Morgan, Los Angeles CA; Mrs. Mary Quinn, Sturgis; Mrs. Laura Gorman, CA; Mrs. Betsy King, CA; and Mrs. Wealthy Calloway, Lancaster. Services will be held Friday (1/5) from FO Jolley Funeral Home, Rev. Erskine will officiate. Burial will be in Bear Butte Cemetery.
