They moved to Dalzell first & were here when the battle of Wounded Knee occurred. From there they moved to the place where Paul Ferguson lives now. The Simons family moved again when they home-steaded east of WhiteOwl. Guy Simons lives on that place. The Simons had 12 children; they were [all named with children] RESEARCHER--Sundae Orwick sent notes about John Simons---John & Lucinda [Betts] Simons were married by Justice of the Peace JMCannon 16 Nov 1862 in Ellenboro, GrantCnty WI. I do not know where John Simons came from prior to this other than North Wales as stated in the 1870 census. There is no proof positive as to where--when John Simons died & is buried. His son Gary stated that his father died in Canada & is buried in Butte MT, however I have searched extensively in Butte MT with the help a Research Assistant for the Butte-Silver Bow Public Archives in Butte MT & that at this time we have yet to locate any facts or a grave to prove that MrSimons is buried in Butte MT. Lucinda Simons, in her application for homesteading in MeadeCnty stated that she was the "head of the family consisting of 4 minor children & that her husband, John Simons having abandoned me, without any fault of mine." The dates on her homestead papers start at 20 Dec 1898 through 10 Mar 1906. Testimony of Witness' dated 10 Nov 1905 of Edward Presler & Jesse King stated that Lucinda was a widow woman.
