Black Hills Press 17 December 1966 Pg 10 GRANT A SIMONS: long-time Meade County resident, died Wednesday at the local hospital. Simons was born 17 April 1881 at Stuart, NE and at the age of 6 moved with his parents to WY. Two years later the family came to Meade County and settled in the Dalzell area. He homesteaded at the present ranch site near White Owl in 1905 and had lived there since. He married Lydia Weyer in 1907 at Rapid City, she survives him. He is also survived by 4 daughters: Mrs. Beulah Hukill, Newell; Mrs. Hazel Sorensen, White Owl; Mrs. Mabel Hidgeman, Timber Lake; Mrs. Helen Howie, Scotts Bluff, NE and 2 sons: Doug, White Owl; and Gene Ochszner, PotLatch, ID, 20 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Two children preceded him in death. Services were held Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, Rev. James Patton officiated. Interment was in White Owl Cemetery under the direction of F O Jolley Funeral Home.
