Bio
Henry Howard Bennett was born January 12, 1882, in Artemas, Bedford County, Pennsylvania, the son of John Bennett and Anna Catharine Sowers. On December 25, 1901, he married Della Smith, in Purcell, Bedford County, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Aquilla and Barbara Kennard Smith. Henry Howard Bennett passed away December 7, 1953, in Mercersburg, Franklin County, Pennsylvania, and was buried on the 10th in Fairview Cemetery there. Obituary for Henry Howard Bennett from the Bedford Gazette of Friday, December 11, 1953: "H. Howard Bennett, 71, a retired farmer and native of Artemas, died at his home in Mercersburg, Monday, December 7, 1953. Mr. Bennett was a son of the late Rev. John and Mrs. Anna (Sowers) Bennett. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Della (Smith) Bennett; eight sons, six daughters, three brothers, and four sisters, among whom are Mrs. Ursula Jay of Everett and Miss Mary Bennett of Artemas. Membership was held in the Church of the Brethren. Funeral services: Thursday at Mercersburg, with interment in the Fairview Cemetery there."
