Bio
Anna Catharine Sowers was born November 8, 1850, in Hagerstown, Washington County, Maryland, the daughter of Isaac and Ann "Nancy" Martin Sowers. She married on October 19, 1873, in Bedford County, Pennsylvania, to Rev. John Bennett, the son of Israel Moore Bennett and Susanna Martin. They were the parents of 12 children, all of whom lived to adulthood: Nancy Lucretia, Amanda Catherine, Sarah Leota, Ursula, David I., Mary S., Henry Howard, Martin Levi, John Edgar, Annie Blanche, James Quinter and Earl Herbert Bennett. Obituary Excerpt for Anna Catharine Sowers Bennett from the Cumberland Times of 1936: "BENNETT. 10 Jan 1936. Mrs Annie C Bennett, 85, wife of Rev. John Bennett, pastor of the Brethern Church of Artemas for 50 years, died last night. A native of Hagerstown, she was born November 8, 1850 a daughter of Isaac & Nancy Sowers. She resided in Bedford County since age 19. Children are John Q. Bennett and John E Bennett-city; David I. Bennett-Altoona; Howard H. Bennett-Mercersburg; Earl H. Bennett-Akron; Martin L. Bennett-address unknown; Mrs. A. S. Brumbaugh and Miss Mary Bennett-Artemas; Mrs. Sula Jay-Everett; Mrs. Herman V. Morse-Altoona; Mrs. Amanda Trail-Flintstone; Mrs. Blanche Peterson-Denver Colorado."
