Obituary for John Edgar Bennett from the Cumberland Evening Times of Monday, January 15, 1962: "John Edgar Bennett, 75, of 534 Fort Avenue, died yesterday in Memorial Hospital where he had been admitted Friday. He had been ill six weeks. A native of Artemas, Pennsylvania, he was a son of Rev. John and Ann (Sowers) Bennett. A retired mail carrier, he was a member of the Brethren Church, Captain French Bible Class, of Kingsley Methodist Church and the Kingsley Aire Singers of the church. He was also a member of the Senior Citizens Club. Surviving are his widow, Clotelle (Burkhart) Bennett; four daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Galliher and Mrs. Wayne Hankinson, both of here; Mrs. Russell Haese, Falls Church, Virginia and Mrs. Marion Sherren, Newark, Delaware; one son, Ernest Dale Bennett, Detroit; one sister, Mrs. Blanche Peterson, Denver, Colorado; two brothers, Quinter Bennett, Flintstone, and Earl R. Bennett, Akron; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Body is at the Hafer Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. and tomorrow from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted at the funeral home Wednesday at 2 p.m. by Rev. Jacob H. Snyder, pastor of Kingley Methodist Church, and Rev. Connell T. Chaney, pastor of Living Stone Church of the Brethren. Interment will be in Hillcrest Burial Park. Pallbearers will be Chester Hardesty, Raymond Shade, William Wilson, John Johnson, Hugh McCoy and Russell Collins, al members of the Captain French Bible Class."
