From the Cumberland Evening Times of Monday, August 11, 1947: "Return From Trip To West. Mr. and Mrs. Quinter Bennett, Flintstone, and their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Whitacre, Altoona, Pennsylvania, and their grandchildren, Velda Whitacre and Olive Marie Grace, have returned from visiting Mr. Bennett's brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. William Peterson, Denver, Colorado. They covered 3,375 miles on the trip." Obituary for James Quinter Bennett from the Cumberland Evening Times of Wednesday, August 21, 1963: "James Q. Bennett, Flintstone, died yesterday afternoon at Sacred Heart Hospital where he had been admitted two days before. He had been in ill health for about six months. Born in Artemas, Pennsylvania, he as the son of the late Rev. John and Catherine (Sowers) Bennett. He was a member of the Glen Dale Church of the Brethren and a retired Kelly-Springfield employee. He is survived by his wife, Mae (Northcraft) Bennett, a son, Alvin H. Bennett, Wiley Ford; two daughters, Mrs. Marie Whitacre, Holsopple, Pennsylvania, and Mrs. Edith Grace, Clinton, Michigan; a brother, Earl, of Copley, Ohio; a sister, Mrs. Blanche Peterson, Denver, Colorado; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The body is at the Slicox Funeral Home where friends will be received after 7 p.m. today. A service will be conducted at the funeral home Friday at 2 p.m. by Rev. Walter Twigg and Rev. Lewis D. Bloom. Interment will take place in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Chaneysville, Pennsylvania."
