Bio

Barbara A. McCleary, 83, of 3718 Warm Spring Road, Chambersburg, died at 10:10 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, in the Waynesboro Hospital. Born Oct. 24, 1907, in Bedford County, she was the daughter of the late H. Howard and Della (Smith) Bennett. Mrs. McCleary was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by three husbands. In 1926, she married Arthur Straley, who died in 1953; in 1955, she married George Hunsecker, who died in 1965; and in 1973, she married Paul McCleary, who died in 1982. Mrs. McCleary was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Williamson. She is survived by two daughters, Ivy Spoonhour of Chambersburg and Estalene (Straley) Bumbaugh of Cascade; two sons, Arthur Carl Straley of Fayetteville and Elwood Straley of Lake Wales, Fla.; three stepdaughters, Jean (Hunsecker) Jacobsen of Tampa, Fla., and Katherine (McCleary) Martin and Ruth (McCleary) Hurley, both of Chambersburg; 11 grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a number of step great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Dolly Myers of Fort Worth, Texas, Della Rockwell of Martinsburg, W. Va., and Ruth Butts of McConnellsburg; and three brothers, Wilton Bennett of Big Stone Gap, Va., Harry Bennett of Mercersburg and Howard Bennett of Rouzerville She also was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, Mercersburg, with the Rev. Allan Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. The Record Herald Waynesboro, PA Wednesday, March 27, 1991
