OBITUARY : CHESTER H. BENNETT, 83, of Clear Spring, Md. R.D.3, died Thursday evening, March 24, in the Chambersburg Hospital. Born Feb. 27, 1905 in Bedford County, he was a son of the late H. Howard and Delia (Smith) Bennett . He was a truck driver and former employee of Fry Coal and Stone Co., PDS Coals, and Martin Marietta, all of Mercersburg. He is survived by his wife, Bertha (Shatzer) Bennett ; four sisters, Barbara McCleary, Chambersburg; Bertha Myers, Fort Worth, Texas; Delia Rockwell, Martinsburg, W.Va.; and Ruth Butts, McConnellsburg; three brothers, Wilton H. Bennett, Big Stone Gap, Va.; Harry B. Bennett, Mercersburg; and Howard E. Bennett, Rouzerville. The Bennetts also raised Louise Harmon Cook. Services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the Lininger Funeral Home, Mercersburg, with the Revs. Arnold Martin and Roy E. Brake, Sr. officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg.
