Mr. Cady was converted some 30 years ago at Harwood and untied with the Methodist church at that place where he remained a member at the time of his death. Death came Thursday evening at about 9 o'clock. Funeral services will be conducted from the family residents this afternoon at 4:30 by Dr. Smith, pastor of the First Baptist church. Obit-Gonzales Inquirer Jan. 10, 1927 pg. 1 W. H. Cady At Rest. Large Crowd Present A large number of friends and relatives gathered at the family residence Friday afternoon to be present for the touching funeral services of William Henry Cady, conducted by Dr. Smith, pastor of the First Baptist Church. After reviewing briefly the life of the deceased, from his birthplace to his arrival in Texas, and his long year as a citizen in Gonzales county, the pastor spoke of the blessings to the parents of the nine living children, all of whom have reached mature manhood and womanhood. He then spoke briefly on Heaven, dwelling chiefly on the things that would not be there. "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no ore death, neither sorrow nor crying; neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things have passed away." A quartett composed of Mesdammes Midkiff, Wood and Smith, together with the pastor sang "Shall We Gather at the River" "The Sweet By and By" and "The Old Rugged Cross." A brief service at the cemetery concluded the rites. The body was borne to its resting place in the cemetery by the following: J. S. Davis, Frank Gibson, Jacob Cizek Bailey Bright, Palmer Crockett and Dudley Hoskins. A wealth of beautiful flowers covered the casket and grave. A special offering from the family was a beautiful pillow of choice summer blossoms placed at the head of the new made mound. All the children, the grandchildren and a number of old friends and relatives were present from out the city. Mr. Cady was a kind neighbor friend and a devoted and generous father and his passing leaves loved ones sorely bereft. He was ready when the summons came, having put his faith in God over thirty years ago. The Inquirer joins many friends in extending sympathy. "The Lord gav, and the Lord taketh away Blessed be the name od the Lord."
