Edward Bezdek, 67, of West died Thursday, June 23, 1988 at a Temple hospital. Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 24 at Kotch Funeral Home Chapel in West. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, Monsignor Ray Widacki as celebrant. Burial followed at St. Mary's Cemetery in West. Mr. Bezdek was born May 19, 1921, in Hill County. He lived all his life in Hill and McLennan Counties and served in the Army during World War II. He was owner and operator of Ross Cotton Gin Co. from 1946 to 1960, and later was employed by McLennan County Precinct 3 for several years. He was a Catholic and a member of Knights of Columbus Council 2305 and KJT Society 31. Also a member of VFW Post 4819 of West and American Legion Post #478. Survivors include a son, Tom Bezdek of Las Vegas, Nevada; a daughter, Cathy Sullivan of El Paso; two brothers, Jim Bezdek of Denton and Raymond Bezdekof Houston; a sister, Mrs. Louis (Frances) Jaska of Ross; and a grandson. Pallbearers were Jerry Bezdek, Steven Bezdek, Raymond Jaska, Patrick Jaska, Johnnie Gaidusek, and Royce Zatopek.
