Funeral services for Mr. John Uptmore of Waco were held at 9:00 a.m. Friday, August 28 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in Waco, Msgr. J. J. Kearns officiated with burial in St. Marin's Cemetery in Tours. Mr. Uptmore was born in McLennan County. He moved to Waco from West in 1946. Mr. Uptmore, 76, died at 1:55 p.m. Wednesday, August 26 in a Waco hospital. Surviros include his wife, Mrs. Mary Uptmore of Waco; six daughters: Mrs. Catherine Recek of Fort Worth, Mrs. Jimmy Black, Mrs. Ernestine Kaluza and Mrs. Marie Vrba all of Waco, and Mrs. Florence Bowie and Mrs. Josephine Curry both of Dallas; three sons: Johnny Uptmore and Virgil Uptmore both of Waco; and Alvin Uptmore of Fort Worth; four brothers: Frank Uptmore and Benny Uptmore both of West, Tommy Uptmore of Waco and Edward Uptmore of Bellmead; two sisters: Mrs. Maggie Schroeder of Riesel and Mrs. Mary Willenborg of California; 39 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were: Johnny Lee Recek, Douglas Scoggins, Billy Gene Scott, Jesse Scott, Calvin Scoggins and Bobby Adams. The West News, September 4, 1964
