Married to Edna Mae Ankney on September 22, 1931 in Grand Island, Hall County, Nebraska Brother of: Angela, Florence, Henry, Lloyd, Floyd, Arthur, Lola, Dorothy, Albert, Christie Funeral rites for Edward J. Goodwin will be held at 9:30 Wednesday morning in St. Mary's Cathedral. A requiem mass will be offered. Interment will be in Grand Island Cemetery. The rosary will be recited at 7:30 Tuesday evening at the Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. Visitations may be made from 7 to 9 Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Mr. Goodwin died Friday evening in a local hospital. He had been in ill health for many months. Remembrances to the Cancer Fund are suggested. Mr. Goodwin was born Oct. 10, 1910 on a farm in Dannebrog to J. Milton and Mary Rayno Goodwin. He began his schooling at Halsey, when the family lived near there, and completed his education in Grand Island. When he was a young man, he became an auto mechanic. He had operated his own garage for 31 years. His last employment, when his health failed was at Cornhusker Farms. Mr. Goodwin was a member of the Catholic Church. He and Edna Mae Ankney were married Sept. 22, 1930, at Hastings. Except for short periods, the family home has always been in Grand Island. Mr Goodwin is Survived by his widow; eight children, Mrs. George Rouse of Kearney, Edward of Visalia, Calif., Mrs Richard Meyers of Phillips, Mrs. Frank Rodriquez of Shelton, Mrs. Dick Hultgren of West Point, Mrs. Dale Cole and Thomas of Grand Island and Miss Theresa Goodwin of Lincoln; four brothers, Lloyd, Floyd and Albert, all of Cairo, and Arthur of Grand Island/ three sisters, Mrs. Arnold Leschinsky of Grand Island and Mrs. Edward Potrzeba and Mrs. Kenneth Holz, both of Central City, 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a son, Joseph; his parents, a brother, Henry, and two sisters, Mrs. Frank Stauss Jr. and Mrs. Dean Zlomke. GRAND ISLAND INDEPENDENT Monday, May 31, 1971
