Brother to: Edward, Angela, Florence, Lloyd, Floyd, Arthur, Lola, Dorothy, Albert, Christie Veteran Dies Today at Age 43 Henry J. Goodwin, 43 son of Mr. and Mrs. J.M. Goodwin and a veteran of World War II, died early this morning in a local hospital following a long illness. He had been confined at the hospital for the last three weeks. He made his home with his parents on the family farm five miles west of Cairo. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 Tuesday morning in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Burial is to be in Westlawn Memorial Park with military rites conducted by American Legion Post 333 of Cairo. The rosary will be recited at 7:30 o'clock Monday evening at the Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home and friends may call at the funeral home until 9 o'clock Monday evening. Henry Joseph Goodwin was born in Dannebrog, Oct. 6, 1914, to Mr. and Mrs. James Milton Goodwin. During his childhood, the family resided the major part of the time near Halsey, Neb. He received his schooling there, in Grand Island and at Cairo. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1941 and served until he was honorable discharged from the service. Since then, he had aided his parents and brothers in the operation of the family farm. He was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church and was affiliated with Cairo Post 333 of the American Legion. Besides his parents, he is survived by five brothers, Edward and Arthur of Grand Island, and Lloyd, Floyd and Albert, all of Cairo; five sisters, Mrs. Frank Strauss Jr., Mrs. Dean Zlomke and Mrs. John Weick, Grand Island, Mrs. Arnold Leschinsky, Spencer, IA., and Mrs. Edward Potrzeba, Central City and other relatives.
