Bio

Mildred Marie Bartes was born on 21 February 1929, to Francis “Frank” and Gertrude M. Serbus Bartes, in Henryville Township, Renville County, Minnesota. Following a three-week illness, little three-year old Mildred passed away at the family home in Kingman Township on Sunday, 29 May 1932, at 8:30 a.m. She had been scalded on 12 May when the chicken house at the family farm was being disinfected and she suffered infections which caused her death. Mildred was Frank and Gertrude’s only child. A funeral service for Mildred Marie Bartes was held on Tuesday, 31 May, at 8:45 a.m. from the home of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Serbus, and from the St. Aloysius Catholic Church at 9:00 a.m. The Reverend Father Pomeji officiated. Mildred was buried in St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery in Olivia, Renville County, Minnesota. Pallbearers were Leo Goblirsch, Edward Goblisch, and Valerian and David Frank.
