Bio

Son of Hugh Marshall Ferrington and his wife Margaret Elizabeth Coats. Ralph was one of two of their children who was given the name "Farrington" as opposed to "Ferrington" on their birth certificates. Ralph used that spelling, while his brother Lewis Clark Farrington was adopted, with his name changed to Louis M. Emery. There are two notable exceptions - the Warren County Marriage Index registers list his name as Ralph Ferrington, and his obituary in a number of area newspapers also gave his name as Ralph Ferrington. Ralph attended the rural school at Coldbrook, then worked and farmed locally. He served with the Corps of Engineers in Europe during World War II (1943-1945). Ralph then worked for Wells Pet Food in Monmouth, retiring in 1975. Ralph was a member of the Monmouth VFW Post. He was an avid rodeo fan and enjoyed professional wrestling. He also enjoyed listening and talking on CB radio, known locally by the handle "Fuzz". Ralph married Margaret Helen Tarr on 3 October 1931. She passed away in 1970. They were the parents of six children: Donald E., of Galesburg; Rosemary, who died in 1944; Connie Lou, of Monmouth; Richard Lee, of Madison, Wisconsin; Roger Dean, who died in 1984; and Elaine Redd, of Monmouth. Also surviving are his sisters, Hazel Reynolds, of Monmouth; Edna Kniss, of Victoria; and his brother, Louis Emery, of Denver, Colorado.
