Son of William C. Ferrington and Rebecca Jane Miner, divorced. Hugh married Margaret Elizabeth Coats in 1898, but later separated. They were the parents of 8 children: 1 - Wanda Marie, born May 1900 and died 27 October 1918 in Cameron, Warren county, Illinois, a victim of the Spanish flu epidemic. 2 - Ruth Lucille, born 1903 and died 1977. Mother of 3 children, preceded in death by her husband Verne Taylor Spicer, but survived by second husband Clifford L. Huntley. 3 - Elmer Hugh, born 10 July 1904, and died 1 Dec 1967 in Florida. Husband of Mary Etta Weech, with no children. 4 - Hazel Olive, born 1907 and died 2003. Wife of Henry Walther and Walter Reynolds, mother of two. 5 - Edna Pearl, born 1909 and died 1987. Wife of Delber Kniss, mother of two. 6 - Ralph Marion Farrington, born 1911 and died 1985. Married Margaret Helen Tarr, and the father of 6 children. Ralph was one of two children whose surname was spelled Farrington as opposed to Ferrington on their birth certificates, the spelling that only Ralph and his descendants used. 7 - Kenneth Creigh, born 1914 and died 1944 in Selma, Fresno county, California. Married Luella Margaret Draper. Father of two children. 8 - Lewis Clark Farrington, adopted as Louis M. Emery following his parents' separation by Earl and Olive Emery, was born 1918 and died 1998 in Colorado. Married Viola Staab, and was the father of three children. Note - The birth certificates for 6 of his 8 children spelled their surname as Ferrington, while 2 spelled it as Farrington. Son Lewis Clark Farrington was adopted and his name changed. Only son Ralph used the spelling Farrington, as given on his birth certificate.
