Bio

Richard Sr. celebrated his 70th birthday on March 3, 2010, and then was diagnosed with cancer and passed away on Friday at the JFK Medical Center in West Palm Beach. He was a lover of life, women, parades, the University of Wisconsin Badgers, hockey, food, Florida, gambling, outdoor festivals, boating, and a good deal. As an independent entrepreneur, he engaged people with a smile and laugh and facilitated the transfer of a wide variety of goods including used cars, sports insignia items and gold. He was born in Monmouth, he was blind until gaining his sight at age 9. In high school he played football, switching uniforms to march in the band at halftime. He served in the Navy in Vietnam, patrolling the Mekong River. He is survived by his sister, Connie Farrington of Monmouth; and three children, Richard Lee Farrington Jr. of Springville, IA, Joy (Farrington) Seaton of Madison, and Elizabeth Leigh Farrington of Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren, Keelan and Tyler Seaton, and Brianna, Nicholas and Andrew Farrington of Chicago, IL; and many wonderful friends, neighbors and co-workers in the West Palm Beach, FL area. Preceding him in death were parents, Ralph Marion Farrington and Margaret Helen (Tarr) Farrington; brother, Roger; sister, Elaine; and children, Michele Lynn and Amy Lee Farrington. A celebration of his life was held at the Lost River Plantation Development Clubhouse at 525 Yacht Basin Way in Stuart, Fla., April 12, 2010.
