Bio
Donald E. Farrington, 54, of Monmouth, died at 3:10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, 1987, at Applegate Inn in Monmouth. He was born March 23, 1932, in Seaton, the son of Ralph M. Farrington and Margaret Tarr Farrington. He was reared and educated in the Monmouth area, attending Monmouth schools. He married Mary Denby. He then married Alice Clayton in Monmouth. As a teenager, he was employed with the Monmouth Ice House. He was last employed as a welder at Bixby-Zimmer in Galesburg. He served in the Air Force from 1951-1961 and was a veteran of the Korean conflict. He is survived by three sons, Jerry Farrington of Monmouth, Guy Taylor of Korea and Paul Allen of Tallahassee, Fla.; five grandchildren; one brother, Richard Farrington of Madison, Wis.; and two sisters, Connie Farrington Guess of Monmouth and Elaine Redd of Monmouth. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Roger, and one sister, Rosemary. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Turnbull Funeral Home by the Rev. Ellis Beeman. Memorials may be made to Applegate Inn in Monmouth.
