Bio

Louis M. Emery, 79, of Denver died April 29. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 5, at St. James Catholic Church. Mr. Emery was born in Mammouth, Ill., on Nov. 15, 1918. He married Viola Staab, 1949. He served as a staff sergeant in the Army during World War II. He retired in 1987 as a printer for the Rocky Mountain News and was a member of the International Typographical Union. Survivors include his wife; son Stephen of Arvada; daughter Sheila Mares of Aurora; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild. Rocky Mountain News, 5/3/1998 ------------------------------ Born Lewis Clark Farrington (sic), son of Hugh Marshall Ferrington and Margaret Elizabeth Coats. Following his parents' separation, Lewis was adopted by Earl Moreland Emery and his first wife, Olive V. Stater Emery. His foster mother died shortly after his adoption, followed 2 months later by his natural father. Louis M. Emery enlisted in the US Army on 19 June 1940. His enlistment files state he was born in Illinois, resided in Dickinson county, Iowa, and had 4 years of college. His occupation was given as unskilled in grain-mill products. His branch of service included "Coast Artillery Corps or Mine Planter Service". It also listed that he was divorced. A Milford, Dickinson county, Iowa newspaper mentioned that T-3 Louis M. Emery was visiting his father and his father's wife in Milford, from 21 January to 12 February 1945, having served 29 months in the Aleutian Islands. Louis retired as a printer for the Rocky Mountain News, and was a member of the International Typographical Union. Louis married Viola Staab in 1949. Survivors included his wife, a son, and a daughter; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a sister, Hazel Olive (Ferrington) Reynolds. Adoptive Parents: Earl Moreland Emery Olive V.
