Mrs. Joe (Marie) Urbis, 87, of West died Sunday at West Community Hospital. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Monsignor George Doskocil as celebrant. Burial followed at St. Mary's Cemetery. Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Kotch Funeral Home Chapel. Mrs. Urbis was born March 28, 1897, in West. She had lived in the West area all her life. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the KJZT Society No. 11 and the Catholic Daughters of America Court 829. She was married to Joe Urbis, who died in 1975. Survivors include two sons, Joe Urbis and Johnny Urbis, both of Robstown; two brothers, Ed Mashek and Jim Mashek, both of West; two sisters, Mrs. Herman (Rosie) Grimm of Tours and Mrs. August (Christine) Stanislav of West; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Patrick Urbis, Richard Urbis, David Urbis, Mark Urbis, Michael Urbis, Frank Hutyra, Jay Prothro and Joe Edd Grimm. Honorary pallbearers were all the nephews.
