Joe J. Urbis Of West Dies Mr. Joe J. Urbis, age 82, of 413 No. Reagan passed away at 10:15 p.m. Monday, December 29, 1975 in a Waco hospital. Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Kotch Funeral Home Chapel in West. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, in St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West with Rev. Wm. Benish as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Mr. Urbis was born in Praha, Fayette County, Texas. He lived in the West area for the past 70 years. He was a retired cotton ginner, farmer and rancher. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church, charter member of the Knights of Columbus Council #2305 and KJT Society #31 of West. Survivors include his wife, Mary; three sons, Harry Urbis of West, Joe and Johnny of Robstown, one brother, John Urbis of Waco; 2 half-brothers, Fred Urbis and Lyde Urbis, both of Calif.; one sister, Mrs. Mary Firasek of Penelope, one half-sister, Mrs. Gertrude Svoboda of Calif.; step-sister, Miss Lillian Drozd of Calif.; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
