Joe Mashek, 58, Deputy Sheriff, Dies Wednesday McLennan County Deputy Sheriff Joe F. Mashek, 58, of 1224 Ashleman in Bellmead, died Wednesday night enroute to a Waco hospital. He suffered a heart attack about 8:15 p.m. Wednesday while working in the yard at his home. A-1 Ambulance took him to Providence Hospital where officials said he was dead. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday in St. Joseph;s Catholic Church in Bellmead. Rev. Joseph Walsh will officiate with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery at West. Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Thursday night in Connally Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Mashek was born and reared in West. He lived there until 16 years ago when he moved to Bellmead. He has been with the McLennan County Sheriff's Department for the past 24 years. Currently he was serving as Chief Civil Deputy in charge of serving papers out of the district courts. Mr. Mashek was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and a member of the KJT Society in West. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Lillian Mashek; five sisters, Mrs. Anna Hutyra, Mrs. Christine Stanislav, Mrs. Mary Urbis and Mrs. Martha Stanislav, all of West, and Mrs. Rose Grimm of Tours; four brothers, Jim Mashek of Abbott, John Mashek of 4000 Meadowbrook Road, Waco, Edward Mashek and Jerry Mashek, both of West; several nieces and nephews.
