Alois Sykora, 78, Dies Following 10-Day Illness Alois Sykora, a resident of this area since 1919, passed away Saturday at Providence Hospital in Waco following a 10-day illness. Funeral services were conducted at the Church of the Assumption Monday morning at 9 o'clock. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery. Rosary was recited at Aderhold Chapel Sunday evening. Fathers E.J. Polcak, J.B. Walsh of Bellmead, and Frank Urbanovsky of Fayetteville officiated at the various services. Mr. Sykora suffered a severe heart attack at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Otto Matus in Bellmead on November 18, and confined to the Waco hospital until his death. Mr. Sykora had moved with his family from Baylor County in 1919. He then located near Penelope in 1922 and lived there until three years ago when he moved to Bellmead to live with his daughter. He retired from farming in 1938. Mr. Sykora was born in Fayette County on December 1, 1874. He was a member of the St. Joseph's Society of the Church of the Assumption. His wife preceded him in death on August 15, 1950, also two daughters and one son. Survivors are five sons, Pete Sykora of West, Louis V. Sykora and Henry Sykora of Penelope, John Sykora and Joe Sykora, both of Dallas; seven daughters, Sister Mary Samuella of Natchitoches, Louisiana, Mrs. Lillie Gerik, Mrs. Martha Gajdica, both of Dallas, Mrs. Rosie Vanek of Vernon, Mrs. Albina Vitek of La Grange, Mrs. Louise Matus of Bellmead.
