Pioneer Resident Claimed by Death Mrs. Johanna Krenek, 67, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Will Matus, near Penelope at 5:00 p.m. Friday, after an illness of some six months. Funeral services were held from the Penelope Catholic church at 3 p.m. Sunday, Rev. J.K. Konkiel officiating, interment in the Catholic cemetery at West. Mrs. Krenek was born in Czechoslovakia, March 19, 1871.* She came to the United States with her parents when she was 3 weeks old, the family settling in Fayette county where they resided until 1900 when they moved to this community. The family later moved to Baylor county, but returned to this section in 1918. Since the death of her husband in 1930, Mrs. Krenek had lived with her daughter, Mrs. Will Matus. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Louis Kubala of Seymour, Mrs. J. P. Knezek of McGargle, Mrs. Will Matus of Penelope, Mrs. Rudolph Matus of Axtell and Mrs. Jim Mashek of West; two sons, John and R.A. Krenek of Waco; four brothers, Joe, John, Louis and Will Sykora, all of West; five sisters, Mrs. John J. Urbanovsky of Abbott, Mrs. Vinc Urbanovsky of West, Mrs. F. F. Urbanovsky of West, Mrs. Charles Bezdek of West and Mrs. Vinc Chudej of West; 20 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
