John Sykora, 85, Passes Away Monday in Waco A resident of McLennan County for the past 62 years, John Sykora of Ross, passed away in a Waco hospital following a short illness on Monday. Funeral services for the 85 year-old native of Czechoslovakia were held at the Church of the Assumption on Wednesday morning with the Rev. E.J. Polcak officiating. Rosary services were held Tuesday evening at Aderhold Chapel. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery. Mr. Sykora came to America from Czechoslovakia before he was 10 years old and settled in Fayette County. He had lived in McLennan County around West and Ross for the past 62 years. He was a retired farmer, and a member of the KJT Lodge. Survivors are one son, John L. Sykora of Ross; two daughters, Miss Ann Sykora of Ross and Mrs. Sophie Marie McNeill of Waco; one brother, Elias Sykora of Bellmead; four sisters, Mrs. Rosa Lee Urbanovsky, Mrs. Agnes Urbanovsky of West, Mrs. Charles Bezdek, Mrs. Julia Chudej, all of West; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were six nephews, Ernest and Louis Urbanovsky, John J. Sykora, Bill and Frank Chudej, and Louis Matus.
