Marie Marek, age 97 of 300 Haven, passed away January 1, 1994 in West Rest Haven. Rosary was recited at 6 p.m. Sunday by Rev. Isidore Rozycki in the St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption with the Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery in West. Mrs. Marek was born November 3, 1896 near West and had lived in the West area all of her life. She was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, the Altar Rosary Society and the K.J.Z.T. Society #11. She married Joe R. Marek, November 24, 1914 in West. He preceded her in death September 10, 1964. She was also preceded in death by a son, Joseph R. Marek, Jr., December 14, 1940. Survivors include three sons, Edward J. Marek of West, John T. Marek of Ennis and Cy Marek of Dallas; four daughters, Mrs. Cyrill (Christine) Svrcek of West, Mrs. Sophie Young of Waco, Mrs. Raymond (Louis) Kallus of West and Mrs. Raymond (Mary) Pavlovsky of Fredericksburg; two sisters, Christine Rejcek of Waco and Willie Mae Makovy of West; 22 grandchildren living, 8 grandchildren deceased; 29 great-grandchildren living and 1 deceased; and 12 great-great-grandchildren and 1 deceased. Active pallbearers were Gary Young, John Marek, Jr., David Pavlovsky, Cy Svrcek, Thomas Marek and Larry Volcik. Kotch Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
