Vaclav Jezek Dies Suddenly November 24 Vaclav Thomas Jezek died in his home a 1 A.M. November 24, from a heart attack. Mr. Jezek was a disabled veteran of World War I, and the father of five small children. He was born on August 2, 1892, and was 53 years and 3 months old at the time of his death. A military funeral was held on Monday, November 26. Services from the residence were held at 9 and 9:30 from the Catholic Church, Father E.J. Polcak officiated. Interment was at the Catholic Cemetery. The pallbearers were Messieurs Louis J. Bezdek, Frank J. Cocek, R.J. Janek, F.G. Gerik, Vaclav Bezdek, and Rud. Stanislav. The honorary pallbearers were Messieurs J. B. Soukup, L.E. Garrison, J.F. Holasek, A.R. Nemecek, P. Klimitchek and J. Mikulik, and all members of the Boyd-Sykora-Schiller Post No. 478. Lt. Frank Hlavaty of the Texas State Guard was in charge of the firing squad, Mr. Bill Zatopek and Mr. Wendell Montgomery blew Taps. He is survived by his wife, three sons, Jimmie, Frank, and Joe, two daughters, Ann and Mary Jane, his mother, Mrs. Emilie Jezek, seven sisters, Mesdames, Henry Zapalac, J.R. Mazanec, and Adolph Muska of West, Sam Fazzio of Dallas, Edward Mazanec and Miss Lillian Jezek of Waco, and Lt. Josephine Jezek of San Antonio; five brothers, Frank, Joe, Anton, George, and Jerry, all of West. The West News, West, Texas, Volume 56, No. 28, Edition 1, Friday, November 30, 1945, page 1.
