Bio
Our beloved mother, nana, great-nana, sister, aunt and friend, Ann (Jezek) Couture, died peacefully in the arms of her daughters on Oct. 31, 2018, in Auburn, WA. Born into a Czech family in West, Texas (Vaclav and Annie Vlk Jezek), on Dec. 23, 1933, she was loving, giving and tons of fun. The world shines brighter because she was in it. Ann had many talents. She loved to paint. She was a skillful seamstress. She had a beautiful voice and enjoyed playing the piano. She was also a passionate gardener and loved the outdoors. She was rarely idle, and if her children ever said they were bored, she would encourage them to read, draw or go outside to play – because she always said life was too short to waste. She saw beauty wherever she was and in whomever she was with. Her life was not easy – the eldest daughter of a large immigrant family, a military wife who made a new home for her family many times. She did it all with grace and humor. She is survived by her son, Donald Couture Jr.; daughters Marie Couture (Gary Olivas), Denise Couture and Jacqueline Couture Escudero (Travis Eckert); grandchildren Trevor Jennings (Kelly), Mellissa Siler, Elise Couture Howerton (Kyle), Aryn Escudero (Ashley), Gavin Olivas, Evan Hirsh and Calder Hirsh; great-grandchildren Luke, Liam and Zoey. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions be made to an organization of your choice supporting dementia research.
