Mrs. Annie Jezek Marek, Former West Woman, Dies In Waco A large number of local friends were shocked Monday to hear of the sudden death of Mrs. Annie Jezek Marek, wife of John Marek of Hewitt, former resident of West and Abbott, in Waco. Mrs. Marek had gone to a Waco physician's office for examination, but death struck as she waited in the anteroom. Deceased was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Jezek of Abbott, and had lived in this immediate section practically all her life. Her husband formerly was a prominent farmer of near West, the family moving to Hewitt several years ago. Mr. Marek has conducted a ginning business in that town since leaving here. Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 10th, from the home of Joe Mazanec at 8:30 a.m. Church services were held at the Church of Assumption at 9 a.m., Rev. Father E.J. Polcak having charge. Interment was in the Catholic Cemetery near town. Survivors are her husband, John Marek; one son, John, Jr., both of Hewitt; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Anton Jezek of near Abbott; six brothers, Jim and Frank Jezek of West, Joe, George, Anton and Jerry Jezek, all of Abbott; seven sisters, Mrs. Henry Zapalac of Waco, Mrs. Ed Mazanec of Waco, Mrs. Joe Mazanec of West, Mrs. Adolph Muska of West, Miss Bettie Jezek of Dallas, Miss Josephine Jezek of Brenham and Miss Lillian Jezek of Abbott. A host of friends of the deceased woman and the families sympathize deeply with them in their great loss. The West News, West, Texas, Volume 45, No. 20, Edition 1, Friday, October 12, 1934, page 1.
