Magdalen Muska, age 96 of West, passed away late Friday evening, October 3, 1997 at West Rest Haven in West. A rosary was recited at 10:15 a.m. October 6 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. October 6 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption with the Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial followed at St. Mary's Cemetery. Mrs. Muska was born November 14, 1899 in Sweet Home. She married Adolph J. Muska, Sr., on July 23, 1923 in West. He preceded her in death on March 10, 1963. She has lived in We3st for 70 years. She was a housewife, active in West Welfare and K.J.Z.T. Society No. 11 where she served as president for 20 years. She served as state director for the K.J.Z.T. from 1952 to 1975. On January 11, 1970. His Holiness Pope Paul VI recognized her for her many years of faithful assistance given to the church and Holy Father, with the Coveted Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice Medal (For the Church and the Pontiff). She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America Court No. 829, the Altar Rosary Society, the National Council of Catholic Women and the St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. She is also preceded in death by five children, Mary Rimkus, Irene Nigro, Anthony Muska, Jereleyne Muska, Josephine Muska and a grandson, Anthony Muska. She is survived by a son, Adolph J. Muska of West; one sister, Lillian Cassidy of Dallas; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Tommy Muska, Brian Muska, Jeff Holloman, Dean Muska, Don Nigro, Jr., and Don Nigro, Sr. Aderhold Funeral Home in West was in charge of arrangements.
